Bone grafting is a minor surgical intervention carried out by an oral surgeon. A little cut is made on your gum, so they have access to your bone, and then grafting material is added. This is a bonelike substance and your body will actually deposit new bone cells around it.
Is bone grafting painful?
It is uncomfortable but not painful, as it can cause swelling which lasts for a few days. However, most patients don’t experience these side-effects, and they only need to take antibiotics for a few days.

After a thorough examination in their central London surgery it was found that I had quite bad infections which had never been addressed by my own dentist, except to prescribe antibiotics every now and again when they flared up. Like a lot of patients I decided to have my treatment in Budapest, and the dentist I saw in London did most of the work, apart from extractions and root canal treatment, in the Budapest Clinic. Everything is spotlessly clean and the equipment is state of the art, better than in many surgeries here. Following the successful completion of the dental work, I unfortunately broke one of my new crowns within 6 months, and this was replaced free of charge in Budapest. Of course this necessitated an unscheduled visit, but it was still much cheaper than having it done in London. A note of caution: Guarantees are ONLY valid when work is done in Budapest, repairs done in London are charged. All the staff in both London and Budapest are very helpful and friendly, and if you are at all nervous they will put you at your ease. They look after you very well, and if you need any advice they respond quickly. I was very happy with the treatment I received, and I would highly recommend them to anyone. Because they have a London practice as well, having half of... the treatments (scans and checkups) done in central London and the rest in Budapest was very convenient. Customer Service was great - they answered my questions very quickly, and were very organised in dealing with the whole process. End to end, the whole process was actually almost a year because of the need to extract, prep the area, heal, have the implant, heal and then come back for final checks before having the crown put in. I went to Budapest twice during the year (once in summer for 4 nights and once again in December for over a week) and its hardly a bad place to have work done and go for a city break as well. The spas are great, and Budapest has everything you need, and its fairly cheap way to live - accommodation is cheap and to a good standard. The practice in Budapest is clean and customer service was to the same level as London. The process is long and requires scans, checkups etc and aftercare and I was worried I wouldn't take to the crown - after having a gap for so long, but it was fine. I'd definitely recommend them and also Budapest for a relaxing city break for hiking, cat cafes and spa days. All the best things really.read more
